Relieved the holidays are almost over? I am. December is the month of perpetual plans. While individual events are fun, they all snowball by the month’s end and leave parents exhausted.
I’m pleased to say that I got my fill of amazing holiday decorations this year as I was lucky enough to kick off December in Paris before covering family travel at the International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) in Cannes.
Paris never disappoints and this year I had two marvelous Moms-only outings with fellow luxury family travel expert Elizabeth Thorpe of Poshbrood.
We shared a divine dinner at Nobu’s winter home in Paris, Le Royal Monceau. The food and ambiance are both sensational. It’s THE place to be right now thanks to the brilliant design by Phillipe Starck, but it doesn’t feel pretentious or stuffy and the service is very warm, in contrast to the other ‘now’ places in town.

We also hit my Paris landmark luxury favorite, the Four Seasons Hotel Paris, George V for tea. Last year we spent the weekend here over the holidays and fell in love with the creative, outrageous holiday design and decorations, not to mention all the special attention kids and their parents get at this luxury icon. There’s a reason this hotel is continually rated the top hotel in the world.

Decadent selection of sweet treats offered during tea at the Four Seasons Paris
Elizabeth and I wrote a full round up of the amazing family activities luxury hotels around the world offered kids this season. If you are reading this, chances are you opted out this season, but all the creative events make my heart sing. Luxury hotels are rolling out the red carpet for families … stay tuned for more news on this in 2013.
