Passports with Purpose 2015: Win a Stay at Hotel del Coronado

Of all our holiday traditions at Ciao Bambino, Passports with Purpose is one of the nearest and dearest to our hearts. This annual travel blog fundraiser is a wonderful chance for us to give back to and create meaningful change for communities in need around the world.

The Gift of Learning

This year, Passports with Purpose benefits Worldreader, an organization that offers reading programs in 12 countries in sub-Saharan Africa. Funds raised this year will bring digital reading to five libraries in western Kenya, with Kindle e-readers providing an estimated 6,250 children, teachers and parents with access to more than 50,000 books.

Each library will get 50 e-readers loaded with reading material for all ages in both English and Swahili, as well as Kenyan textbooks. The program also includes comprehensive training for the librarians and a system to keep the e-readers charged if electricity is scarce. One hundred percent of Passports with Purpose donations, exclusive of PayPal fees, will go to the cause.

David Risher, president and co-founder of Worldreader, was inspired to start the initative after a round-the-world trip with his wife and daughters. Find out more about his story and about Worldreader on the Passports with Purpose website.
