One of the most severely affected activities throughout the Covid-19 pandemic has been travel. It’s heartbreaking to see hundreds of families postpone or cancel most of their 2020 trips, and lockdowns to help prevent exposure forced most destinations and hotels to close for months. As time went on and it became clear that the world would be living with coronavirus for months to come, many hotels, resorts and restaurants have rolled out procedures that enable guests and staff to avoid close contact by practicing social distancing and mandating mask wearing, as well as sanitizing frequently touched surfaces. So how can families still plan travel during Covid? Fortunately, some of our favorite getaway properties for families have ample open space and outdoor areas to enjoy, and airlines have introduced aggressive cleaning and sanitation programs to help make air travel safe through the pandemic. Likewise, destinations that were forced to close to contain the virus have slowly started to reopen with a wide variety of protocols in place, moving from 14-day quarantines to negative test requirements for entry.
From tips on how and where families can ski this season, to helping families take advantage of this downtime to plan bucket list trips for the future, our Advisors are helping clients keep their travel dreams alive however they can at this moment in time.
Our Advisors have tracked every detail of the crisis as it’s progressed, monitoring communication from the Centers for Disease Control in tandem with updates from our vast network of suppliers around the world. We’ve helped clients who decided to travel over the summer months take road trips, rent private homes, and enjoy properties that figured out ways to open. And we’ve supported clients who have put a hold on all plans and have taken the past several months to dream and plan the family vacations they’ll take in 2021 and beyond.

This is a challenging time for our clients given the uncertainty around the spread of coronavirus, particularly for those with near-term travel plans in impacted areas. We’re working with our suppliers on being flexible with their booking conditions, and enabling families to postpone travel to a later date without a penalty, when possible. Likewise, given the unpredictability around destinations that may be impacted in the future, we’re helping clients planning new trips and understand ways that they can protect themselves until the situation improves. We are ready to help our clients work through questions and concerns.
