The family surf camp at Peaks n’ Swells was one of the best vacations we’ve ever taken. The small, family-owned camp in Montezuma is all about creating an authentic Costa Rican surf experience for the entire family. Kids learn with a 2:1 instructor-to-kid ratio on sandy-bottom beach breaks, and everyone benefits from highly customized professional instruction. The food at the all-inclusive camps is outstanding — fresh and healthy with plenty of kid-friendly options. Our kids picked mangos from the trees and drank coconut water from pipas on the property while watching monkeys scamper around in the trees. The children’s activities director organizes soccer games on the beach, art projects, walking kids into town, and taking them on nature walks when parents are engaged in their own activities like yoga and massage. Every single detail is taken care of for families here, and most importantly, everyone will learn how to surf! The family surf camps include daily surf sessions, with one “rest” day in the middle of the week. Depending on which break you surf, there are lots of little excursions in the area, as well as horseback riding and ATV tours available in town.
