The Audubon Cottages are an absolute gem in New Orleans’ French Quarter. Despite the near-constant bustle of the surrounding neighborhood, high brick walls and lush foliage help to filter out street noise — the property feels incredibly secluded and serene. Seven one- and two-bedroom cottages, built as private homes in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, cluster around a central courtyard with a heated saltwater pool. Each cottage is individually decorated to enhance the storied sense of place, with handsome marble-clad showers and comfortable beds. Rooms are generously sized and give families plenty of space to spread out; each cottage has a private or semi-private courtyard that’s perfect for little ones to play or for parents to enjoy the sunset with a cocktail. A delicious breakfast buffet, including egg dishes cooked to order, is set up in the garden cottage each morning, or guests can have breakfast brought to their suite if they prefer. Service is warm and gracious in every regard. Many of New Orleans’ best shops, restaurants and sights are just a short walk away, and the onsite French Quarter butler is happy to help with dinner reservations and more.
