The Peninsula Chicago Takes Family Amenities to a New Level

The Peninsula Hotels takes pleasing guests of all ages very seriously. I’ve met their marketing team on a few occasions now and I’m always impressed by their creative ideas for children. The Peninsula Chicago got my attention recently when they announced their Chicago Fire House Excursion for wee guests who want to learn what it’s like to be a fireman for the day.

The themed stay starts with a pick up at the hotel by The Peninsula Chicago’s own MINI Cooper (fun!), includes a tour of the fire station and “training” with a live fireman or firewoman, a photo, and ends with a fire safety inspection back at the hotel. My son would have loved to do this when he was younger! It’s great to see a brand engage kids in immersive local activities, not just offer candy and cookies at check in.

The Peninsula Chicago Review for Families

We stayed at The Peninsula Chicago for a wedding last year. It is in the best possible location for playing in Chicago, right of Michigan Avenue on East Superior. Restaurants, shopping, Lake Michigan, parks, and public transportation are all within walking distance from here.

Guest Rooms

Rooms are updated, well-appointed, and some have stunning city views.  Junior Suites and Deluxe Suites are perfect for families with a master bedroom and a separate living room with a sofa bed. These suites can also connect to an additional guest room for larger families.

Dining

We didn’t get a chance to try the hotel’s dining outlets, but the food provided at our wedding was the best we’ve ever had at a wedding — ever — if that is an indicator of the quality. Dining and beverage outlets include an expansive lobby lounge, a bar, Pierrot Gourmet restaurant, and the more casual Shanghai Terrace, serving Chinese food in a buzzy, lounge atmosphere.

Spa and Pool

We love when city hotels have indoor pools, as it gives families a place to take sightseeing breaks. Located on the 19th floor of the hotel, the beautiful indoor pool at The Peninsula Chicago is huge with spectacular city views. There’s also a sun terrace, full spa, and fitness center.

We didn’t get a chance to experience all the amenities at The Peninsula Chicago given our wedding commitments, but we certainly got a feel for the basics. This is a stunning, service-oriented luxury hotel in a coveted location. They are catering to families in spades with packages and engaging service offerings, making The Peninsula Chicago an exceptional option for families who want the best of the best in Chicago with kids.
