Families looking for a luxe ski-in/ski-out experience in Colorado, with all the amenities of a top-notch stay, will love Breckenridge’s One Ski Hill Place, a Rock Resort. Nestled at the base of Peak 8 with a jawdropping view, the property comfortably accommodates families in condominium-style guest rooms. With roomy and well-furnished accommodations plus onsite amenities that range from a ski valet and a zero-entry pool to a movie room and a bowling alley, there is both plenty of space and plenty of fun to be had.
From the moment you walk into the open-concept lobby of this newly built lodge, you’re delighted by its grandeur, and yet the amenities and sense of ease make it unmistakably family-friendly. One Ski Hill Place combines the privacy of a condo operating with the conveniences of a hotel — our family felt as though we had the best of all worlds.

Condos are modern but truly luxe, with a rustic-chic flair. We enjoyed a two-bedroom unit with a patio view of the hill; other configurations include studios, one- and three-bedroom units, and an exclusive four-bedroom condo. The lovely bedrooms each have ensuite bathrooms with soaking tubs.
All units include full kitchens and laundry facilities. Other niceties include a wide foyer for dropping ski gear and a dramatic stone fireplace framing the living room.
We have an active family that likes to try everything, and being so close to both the ski area and town worked out perfectly. Every instance of this service-oriented ski community is designed to cater to skiing families, from the world-class instructors to the equipment storage service that takes care of your gear while you refuel on hot chocolate.
We hit the slopes during the day and, after lunch, walked to the gondola right outside the resort to ride into town. Known for its charm and friendly locals, Breck is full of great shops and restaurants for families to linger in and enjoy. We had heard the buzz about the famous crepe cart, and it did not disappoint. Made-to-order sweet and savory crepes are still one of my youngest child’s favorite memories of a sunny afternoon in downtown Breckenridge.
TIP: The gondola runs only until 5p, so take that into account when planning your return.
After an afternoon of enjoying the town, we went back to One Ski Hill to swim and bowl a few games in the property’s mine shaft-themed bowling alley. You may not associate bowling with a luxury ski resort, but this was great family fun after a day of activity. My husband and I used it to leverage a more adult-like dinner experience with our kids later on.
