It’s hard not to fall in love with Seville. Capital of the Andalucia region in southern Spain, the city seduces visitors with its flamboyant beauty as well as its relaxed, freewheeling vibe. Flamenco dancers, Moorish design, horse-drawn carriages, orange trees heavy with fruit — this is Spain as you’ve always pictured it, and it is magical. Our favorite way to experience Seville? A 3-hour bike tour!
Thanks to its flat topography, Seville (Sevilla to the locals) is perfect for a private bike tour, an enjoyable way to get an overview that will help you decide where you want to spend time later. We ventured out with our local guide on a fine summer morning, helmets securely on heads, well before the heat reached its scorching peak. Our route consisted of highlights including Sevilla Cathedral, the Palace of San Telmo, the lavish Plaza de España and Maria Luisa Park, with brief rest breaks and plenty of insight into Seville’s colorful history along the way. Seeing the streets from a fresh vantage point was invigorating and just plain fun — the kids would have pedaled all day if we’d let them.
Back at the bike shop, we capped off the adventure with a taste of this Spanish city’s distinctive orange wine. Salud!
A private or small group bike tour is the perfect way to experience Seville’s rich history while getting a bit of fresh air and exercise. If your family is particularly adventurous and/or fit, we can arrange a full-day tour. In a bike-friendly city like Seville, the options are endless.
TIP: A bit of cycling experience is helpful but not necessary; the tour sticks largely to back roads, sidewalks, and bike lanes, and we only had to dodge pedestrian traffic here and there. Our vetted Seville travel partner offers child-size bikes and all the necessary gear. While kids of any age are welcome, this excursion is really best for those 8 and up, as they need to be able to pay attention to the roads and stay in line with the group. For younger kids, we can arrange a private walking tour as an alternative, no biking required.
That's what we do! Our Family Travel Advisors can book vetted kid-friendly accommodations, arrange private tours and guides, create a custom itinerary and more. Click to send us a request.
