When I booked a getaway at the Baglioni Hotel London, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this famous Italian luxury brand working outside of their homeland. I had quite a pleasant surprise and discovered that this 67-room boutique hotel is very popular with Italians seeking sumptuous luxury their way, which at the end of the day is appealing for luxury lovers from all nations: grand design + fine food & wine + amazing linens + warm service.
Here’s our family-friendly review of the Baglioni Hotel London:
The intimate and elegant ambiance doesn’t scream children, but the 40-plus large suites at the Baglioni Hotel London attract families with children of all ages. Rooms are bold and all about texture, with striped walls, velour seating, brocade and gold leaf accents, and black lacquer finishes.
The property is not trendy or stylish — it’s an Italian version of modern and comfortable. Beds are fluffy and bathrooms are decadent, with deep soaking tubs and separate showers. The dressing room in our suite was bigger than some London hotel rooms.
The convivial lounge and restaurant are the star of the lobby and attract loiterers at all times of day for coffee, tea, excellent aperitivi, and, of course, authentic Italian cuisine. The restaurant and bar are elegant but not hush-hush, and children are welcome.
There’s also a spa and gym, which, sadly, we didn’t have time to try.
The staff is a property highlight! From personable general manager Alessandro Convertino, who is ever-present and perennially pampering guests, to the smiling front desk and concierge staff, walking into into the hotel is like coming home. Warm faces greet you in a way that creates ease and contentment.
One of the best parks in the entire world for young children must be the Princess Diana Memorial Playground in Kensington Park. The good news is that this wonderful spot is directly across from the Baglioni Hotel London, as are a myriad of lovely open spaces for families to run and play. Public transportation to all of London’s big attractions is easy to access from here, and families who love to walk can get to many fabulous neighborhoods for dining and shopping from this point in the city.
The starting rate for a family of four at the Baglioni Hotel London is 775 GBP per night.
