In the old days, “travel clothes” meant safari outfits and trekking wear. Think back to the original Banana Republic … Thankfully, Banana Republic has moved on and innovative brands have emerged to fill the gap. Women on the go now have stylish and functional options that work for a variety of situations and destinations.
Anatomie is a great example of a line conceived by a woman who is unwilling to give up looking good for convenience and comfort on the road. I was first introduced to their clothes at the Four Seasons Hotel Toronto and immediately fell in love with the lightweight fabric. I had the opportunity to interview Anatomie’s co-founder, Kate Boyer, about her brilliant company a few weeks ago.
I was a competitive gymnast and couldn’t find clothes that were comfortable for travel and flexible enough for multiple occasions. I set out to find fabrics that would be easy to pack and appropriate for different events without looking like I was in gym clothes all the time. I found the perfect fabric solution in Europe and created Anatomie.
We still source our fabrics in France and Italy. They are wash and go with no ironing or dry cleaning required, lightweight, and easy to pack. Two pairs of pants weigh less than a banana and 15 pieces weigh only 8 pounds. Our pieces make the perfect carry-on, irrespective of the destination. You can literally hand wash our fabrics in the sink, blow dry them, and you’ll be ready to go in no time.
Our designs are sophisticated and structured enough so that you don’t feel like you are in yoga pants all day. All of our pieces are mix and match so you don’t have to worry about what goes with what. You can wear them at a resort, on a cruise, or to a business meeting. They transition from day to night. It takes all the thinking out of getting dressed in the morning.
We are the recommended travel wear for Virtuoso, who sends itineraries to us for their clients, and then we review their plans and prepare a customized packing list. Our clothes are timeless, seasonless, and ageless — grandmothers, moms, and daughters can all wear Anatomie.
Our clothes make the ultimate travel outfit. You can’t ruin them!
I don’t go anywhere without Skyler Pants, a Buda Mesh Top, and a City Sleek Jacket. These pieces transition from activity-to-activity and are appropriate in so many different ways. I dress them up and down with belts and jewelry.
Note, we recommend pants by body type not by size , so if somebody is curvier her travel pant will be the Fiora or Kate pant. We have nine different cuts now!
We will keep doing what we do best and expanding our reputation as a fantastic luxury travel line. We are creating packing guides that correspond to popular destinations, so women will look wonderful no matter what. Flagship stores are on the horizon, and we will grow our designer travel boutiques that are already very successful.
Husbands want in on the action. A menswear line may be in our future!

Editorial Note: Anatomie sent me an outfit to try as my compensation for this post. As I mentioned, I had already purchased my first pair of Anatomie pants at the Four Seasons Toronto months ago. My new outfit only confirms for me how different these clothes are from anything else available in the market today. Travel essentials!
