Cancun has so many family-friendly hotels and resorts that it can be difficult to figure out the best one to fit your whole family’s needs. If you’re looking for an all-inclusive resort that’s optimal for all ages — from babies to grandparents — look no further than Hyatt Ziva Cancun. Located at the tip of the Yucatan peninsula, it is literally surrounded by turquoise water, so no matter which direction you walk, you encounter ocean. The property is dazzling in more ways than one.
The recently renovated resort is incredibly luxurious in every way, from design to service. It’s big — really big — but the design has landmarks and meeting points that make it easy to meet up with family and friends. There are multiple pools, restaurants, a first-rate spa, swim-up bars, several walking paths and, of course, the beach, which goes on for as long as you want to stroll.
The resort has 547 guest rooms, all offering great vistas of the Caribbean and the lush gardens. The rooms are breathtaking upon entrance: expansive enough to create a sense of privacy, yet cozy, with a complimentary refreshment bar, a Jacuzzi on the balcony, big beds with lush bedding, a sitting room and a spa-style bathroom with a soaking tub. Children will feel right at home and they’ll also be able to spread their toys out or watch TV when taking a break from outside activity.
Guests in higher-level room categories have access to butler service and swim-up suites, plus the Hyatt Club Level Lounge. The louge features appetizers, continental breakfast, table games, books, complimentary domestic and international calls and discounts on laundry, spa and salon services.

The Hyatt Ziva has a daily, rotating calendar of activities. Younger guests can enjoy the adult-supervised KidZ Club, complete with a tree house, pool and water area, as well as a game room with teen-focused activities. The hotel has three infinity swimming pools, stand-up paddleboarding, water basketball, beach volleyball, snorkeling and other non-motorized water sports. On dry land, opt for tennis, complimentary bicycle tours, organized games, culinary classes and tastings, and culturally inspired live performances.
Families can also venture out to El Meco, a registered Mayan archaeological site, or the working onsite lighthouse that plays an important role in coastal navigation. An outdoor amphitheater hosts live music, shows and other performances. Soon to be added is the Delphinus Experience, an interactive dolphin habitat where guests can safely interact and swim with marine mammals.
The resort offers nine gourmet restaurants, and the fare ranges from very casual to elegant; it’s fresh and seasonal across the board. Kids will love having a Mexican meal at the beachfront Habaneros, including delicious ceviche and fish tacos. At Tradewinds, guests can enjoy healthy breakfasts and, later in the day, Argentinian food; at the Asian-inspired Moongate, kids will love watching the hibachi chefs hard at work, with fire rising in all directions. Other options include Italian, French, a dessert parlor, food carts and Chevys Diner (with an actual Chevy that has a booth in it — fun for kids!).
Hyatt Ziva Cancun is located just 25 minutes from Cancun International Airport, which offers daily nonstop flights from all major gateways in North America.
