Lake Tahoe is one of those destinations where renting a home versus staying in a hotel is very popular with kids, particularly during summer months when the average stay is a week or more. This can be a challenging set up for those of us who like to have services when on vacation to avoid the dreaded “relocation” instead of “relaxation” mode of travel. Fortunately, Lake Tahoe has Tahoe Luxury Properties (TLUXP), a full service home rental agency offering exceptional inventory paired with hotel-like services.
We’ve used Tahoe Luxury Properties for years. They have an incredible array of properties on the North Shore — our preferred year-round playground with access to the lake, shopping, dining, and top ski resorts including Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley, and Northstar at Tahoe.
There’s so much rental inventory available around Lake Tahoe that searching for qualified properties can be an exhausting process. This is why I love using a rental agency, as the good ones like TLUXP, have a reliable short list of options where you know anything you rent will meet minimum quality standards.
As the name indicates, Tahoe Luxury Properties offers some exceptionally upscale homes like … this lakefront beauty Nineteen-Seventy which starts at $2,500 per night for 9 bedrooms.
That said, TLUXP has plenty of homes that are 4-star equivalent. Nice …. but not over-the-top and priced accordingly. A great example is the home we stayed in this summer, the Shaw House. This three-bedroom home is warm, inviting, and recently decorated in an upscale mountain style with colorful fabrics. The home itself isn’t spectacular one way or another, but the appealing décor makes it comfortable and great for discerning adults with kids-in-tow. Best of all, it’s one block from dog-friendly homeowners beach. Pricing starts at $300 per night — a great value.
TLUXP offers concierge services where they can set up everything from a private chef, to stocking the house with groceries, to organizing a babysitter. They can even set up in-vacation-rental spa services!
It’s so nice to have someone to call in a rental. Not to mention, things do go wrong from time to time. We had a few things break in our last rental and TLUXP had them fixed in no time. Rental issues should be expected — all homes have things that stop working at one point in another. The key is having something fix them quickly.
The office at TLUXP is responsive and well organized. We’ve used HomeAway and VRBO with success in Tahoe too, but if you want value-added services, put Tahoe Luxury Properties in your family vacation black book.
