Set on the location of the former Miramar By the Sea Hotel from the 1940s, the newly opened Rosewood Miramar Beach welcomes families to the gorgeous southern California coastline town of Montecito. Just 80 miles north of Los Angeles, the resort is a playground for all ages, making it an ideal getaway for families year-round.
Located on one of the most exclusive and scenic beaches in southern California, the Rosewood Miramar Beach sits in the coastal village of Montecito at the heart of the “American Riviera.” The beachfront resort is easily accessible to travelers driving along the California coast; alternatively, guests can fly into Santa Barbara municipal airport.
There are numerous guestroom options that work for families. The 16-plus-acre property houses 124 guest rooms and 37 suites. The decor onsite evokes modern beach living, featuring light, breezy comfortable furnishings. Beach House Suites provide open floor plans and the option to connect to neighboring Bungalow Rooms with semi-private terraces and courtyards, an ideal setup for parents traveling with kids. Lanai Guest Rooms are generously sized with lovely patios or terraces overlooking lush gardens.

Families can enjoy a variety of beachside pursuits onsite, such as swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding and surfing. The resort provides complimentary water sports equipment along with beach chairs and umbrellas, and beach butler service is also available. On dry land, try your hand on the shuffleboard and bocce ball courts. There also are two swimming pools, the Cabana Pool and the Manor Pool.
For relaxation, the resort offers a variety of spa services for guests of all ages, including special packages for children. Ready to get off the grounds and explore? Take advantage of courtesy transportation in the property’s Rolls Royce Ghost house car within a 3-mile radius.
The staff is happy to provide kids’ amenities on request, including full-size cribs, in-room babyproofing, mini bathrobes and slippers, a changing table and more.
The Rosewood Miramar Beach offers six onsite dining venues with something for everyone. Malibu Farm at Miramar serves farm-to-table cuisine all day in a laid-back setting. Caruso’s alfresco beachfront restaurant offers southern Italian fare for a special family dinner as well as weekend brunch. The Scoop Shop is a fun poolside eatery serving hamburgers and artisanal ice cream. Poolside service is offered also — perfect for families who want convenience without interrupting family fun.
A working railroad runs along the back side of the Beach House Guest Rooms, operated by Amtrak and other train operators. The schedule isn’t predictable, but the staff tells guests before they book those rooms, so there are no surprises. All rooms on that side are soundproofed with vestibules that act as a buffer. When the patio doors are open, the sound of the ocean waves drowns out the train noise.
