Just over a mile away from central Florence, Riva Lofts offers a calming and tranquil respite from the energy and fast pace of the city. The space was a small factory in the 1880s, then served as artisans’ studios until 1999, when renowned architect Claudio Nardi came in to work his design magic. For families wanting the city experience without the crowds right outside the door, Riva Lofts is the place to be. It’s a fabulous spot for fans of slow travel!

Family-Friendly Review and Highlights of Riva Lofts
Location
Riva Lofts is situated just outside of central Florence across the Arno River, in an area known as the Oltrarno. Parco delle Casine, a garden-filled space for kids to run around and for parents to relax, is nearby. The heart of Florence is reachable in just a few minutes by taxi, or you can take a short walk to the Tramway that departs every five minutes for the city-center train station.
A comfortable outdoor sitting area for guests to enjoy
Accommodations
Hotel rooms have very contemporary decor, with hints of 1950s French style, and offer varying amounts of space. The property’s self-catering apartments are more spacious — however, note that the Easy Riva and Superior Deluxe apartments have staircases without railings, which may be unsafe for younger children.
The mini-bar in each room includes a complimentary bottle of wine and soft drinks. Baby cots are available free of charge; extra beds for children are €50. Babysitting and massage services are available upon request.
Guests can take advantage of Riva Lofts’ complimentary bikes
Dining and Amenities
The best amenities that Riva Lofts offers are the swimming pool and the garden area — two rare features to find in the city. Bikes are available free of charge, and the hotel has onsite concierge service until 8p daily. The spacious stone-walled great room serves as a common area for all guests and includes a library, TV and DVD player, and a 24-hour honesty bar. It’s a relaxing space for older kids to unwind solo, or to sit with the family and enjoy a movie projected on the large screen.
Breakfast is available onsite, and the concierge can recommend family-friendly restaurants nearby as well. Large groups can arrange for dinner to be prepared onsite.
The smaller rooms have a sofa bed with doors that close off to the main bedroom
Riva Lofts is a sanctuary in the busy city. It offers guests the best of both worlds: a great place for a family to experience all that Florence has to offer, yet escape when the high energy becomes too much.
