Brilliant Travel Service Alert: Flytographer

Although I love taking photographs while traveling and rarely leave a hotel without a hefty DSLR camera strung around my neck, I’m keenly aware that I cross the line between enjoying the present moment and being too focused on capturing the memory on film instead of in my mind. Not to mention that there are trips we take where I’m in none of the photos given my persistent role as head photographer.

The lovely and talented Ana Silva O’Reilly of Mrs. O Around The World introduced me to this brilliant service now offered in 85 cities and counting, where a professional photographer meets travelers for a photo shoot with the ultimate fantastic backdrop, their vacation destination.

For us, the destination was Florence. Magnificent, right? Yes! From beginning (booking the shoot) to the end (email delivery of a gallery link and file with hi-resolution images) the service was flawless. Once the date and time was confirmed, a Shoot Concierge reached out to gather nitty gritty details like did we want candid or posed photos, and were there any special specific shots we wanted to capture.

Family Photo Shoot in Florence

We spent an hour with Alberto, our charming photographer. He made our session fun and informative. We roamed though Florence’s most iconic streets with Alberto in tow while he captured both candid and posed moments. Alberto is wonderful with children and got our 11-year-old to do things he’d never do in a million years if I asked him to … like getting on the antique carousel at Piazza della Repubblica and posing with Pinocchio in a wooden toy shop.

All that is great, but how were the photos? Take a look:

Pricing ranges from $250 for a 30 minute photo shoot in one location, to $350 for a 1 hour photo shoot in one or two locations, to $650 for a 2-hour romp around the city. The deliverable is 15, 30, and 60 digital photos, respectively, and clients have the rights to send, print, and use however and wherever they see fit (personal use only).

Editor’s Note: Flytographer provided a complimentary 1 hour shoot for Ciao Bambino to review their service. As always, our opinions are our own.
