I was Executive Director of Partnerships & Event Management for an organization focused on developing entrepreneurs. I’ve also worked extensively in HR and talent management for large multinational companies, having lived in Europe for much of that time. Part of my responsibilities included managing employee expat assignments in Europe and elsewhere — early exposure to connecting people with away-from-home experiences. I’ve had the good fortune to travel extensively professionally and personally. I am married to a German man, and we are committed to raising our children in a bilingual, bicultural home. The common thread throughout my life has been international travel and cross-cultural experiences, perfectly culminating in this Advisor role.
Ooh. I loved all my travels — it’s hard to choose! Each offered something so delightful and enriching. I believe that travel is an opportunity to forge entirely new memories, disconnect from daily life and invite in possibility. In our family, we have many special memories, but the ones that rise to the top are from our travel and vacations. Why? Because that is when we are unplugged, fully present, engaging with one another and others in a new, unfamiliar environment, and very often learning or doing something different. But if I must choose, I’d say it was our trip in February 2021 to Costa Rica. It was our first family trip out of the U.S. since the pandemic started. After a challenging year for all, it felt magical to be away, and the country is so beautiful, the people so warm and genuine. Costa Rica has it all: adventure, nature, wildlife, breathtaking landscapes, gorgeous beaches and delicious food. No doubt, the experience was even more special after being confined for so long — the freedom to experience anew, to forge new memories, underscored what I love most about travel.
Nothing is more rewarding than putting my talent and skills to work to help others experience the thrill of exotic travel destinations and new cultures! It’s the perfect intersection of things that I’m best at doing (visioning, planning, connecting with others) with what I’m most interested in (places, people, cultures and experiences). Travel advising is my dream job, where I can help others create special memories through travel. Creating an itinerary is like a blank canvas that I have the privilege to paint based on my client’s interests, desires and appetite for adventure. A privilege indeed.
