Community Recommended Hotels and Resorts

Run by a young family in southern Ireland, the six-room Ballyvolane House offers the comforts of home (plus a good bit of grandeur), live-in playmates, and a chance to experience a culture from the inside out. With a tree house to play in, woods to explore, animals to feed and fishing on premise, you can truly relax here and forget about the winding Irish roads for a few days. The hosts are very accommodating to families and go out of their way to make stays enjoyable. Since they have three kids, they have almost anything you forget to bring from toys to raincoats. You also have full run of the grounds, from the gardens (basically unchanged since the 18th century) to the lakes, where fly-fishing lessons are offered for grown-ups and kids. If you are looking for a true Irish country house experience that embraces your children too, this is it.
