Before Becoming an Advisor …

The majority of my working career has been in event planning and public relations. Whilst living in South Africa in this role, listening to clients’ needs, finding the right solutions and attention to detail were key to my role. I was also lucky enough to travel extensively throughout Africa. Moving to the United Kingdom in the year 2000 opened the travel doors to Europe for me, as it is so easy to travel within Europe. I have now made Italy my home and have lived here for almost six years. Immersing myself (and the children) in the culture, language and food has been a true gift. I love planning and I love traveling, so becoming a travel planner was my next step and a fluid transition.

My Favorite Travel Experiences

South Africa is where I was born and spent half of my life. I love, love, love Cape Town, a wonderful city where you can experience a multitude of cultures, enjoy magnificent scenery, enjoy food and wine to die for and get up close to nature. People who have been to Cape Town talk about how special it is. I am going to be very generic here and say I adore Europe. Traveling between countries is so easy, allowing you to steal a few days here and there, but you get complete cultural immersion. Before we moved to Italy, we often drove there from the UK and got to experience such varied scenery, weather, food and characters.

Why I Love My Job

What I love about this job is the road we travel with our clients/families in creating bespoke itineraries and a lifetime of memories … from the first phone call — getting to know your client and their family dynamics, listening to their hopes and dreams for their vacations — and then finding the perfect location, hotel, tour or off-the-beaten-track restaurant. We then discuss the final itinerary (where they can visualize each step) and send them on their way to create new memories. Even more exciting is when they come back and I call them to find out about their travels, hear all the wonderful stories and sometimes get the opportunity to see their photos. This brings absolute joy, knowing that we can take away the stress of planning a family vacation and give them a trip to remember.
