The Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort is uniquely located in the tri-state area of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar. The resort sits on a lush hillside on the Thailand side of the border, and is a 45-mile drive from the northern city of Chiang Rai and its regularly serviced airport. All rooms are elegantly designed and furnished in traditional Thai style, using colorful Thai silks and teak wood. Spacious balconies allow visitors to soak up stunning views of the Golden Triangle area. From the balconies, children will delight in hearing the trumpeting of elephants and chatter of monkeys and other wildlife that roam in the valley below. Room configuration options for families include connecting rooms (via balconies) and suites. The hotel staff is the epitome of family-friendly. Young children will love meeting and feeding a baby elephant every morning at breakfast, as well as taking a short walk down to the onsite baby elephant camp. Older children can take a mahout training course, learning how to “drive” elephants, bathe them in the river, and trek along beautiful nature trails. Family members of all ages will enjoy the pool and Jacuzzi. The resort offers a number of onsite activities (including elephant camp activities, a cooking school, rice planting, mountain biking and more) and also features a range of organized and do-it-yourself area excursions that let you explore the region.
