Review of Croke Park Hotel in Dublin

Just minutes away from the city center, Croke Park Hotel is a great option for families who want value-oriented accommodations with easy access to Dublin’s city center. It’s just a quick 15-minute taxi ride from Dublin International Airport, making it a convenient hotel for families in town for just a day or two en route to another destination in Ireland or Europe. It’s located directly across the street from the famous Croke Park stadium, home to Dublin’s beloved Gaelic football games

Croke Park Hotel Review for Families

Convenient Location

There are multiple options to get to the center of Dublin from the Croke Park Hotel. Walking into the city takes 20-30 minutes, families can catch the Hop-on Hop-Off bus that comes right to the hotel, or take a 10-minute walk to catch the city bus. There are a few restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, but the best places to eat outside of the hotel are in the city center.

Family-Friendly Hotel

Family-owned and part of the Doyle Collection of Fine Hotels, Croke Park really goes out of its way to accommodate families. The hotel offers 232 rooms and multiple room configurations that work with kids including connecting rooms and suites.

My kids loved having access to the executive suite where they could easily grab a snack or play a game. There are multiple booking packages available for families; including a visit to the Butler’s chocolate factory, tickets to the Dublin Zoo, and even tickets to see Gaelic football at Croke Park stadium.

The hotel’s modern design offers clean and large rooms with comfortable beds and a spacious bathroom. In room amenities include teddy bears for the kids, a babysitting service, junior sized robes and slippers, and the option for a milk and cookies service at bedtime. Guest rooms are quiet. Other amenities include a state of the art fitness center, 24-hour reception, free parking, and a library sitting room.

In true Irish hospitality, the staff is friendly and helpful in whatever capacity guests need.

Sideline Bar and Bistro

Croke Park Hotel’s Sideline Bar and Bistro offers a variety of eating options, from a traditional Irish breakfast to modern European dishes. The kid’s menu offers the standard kid-meal favorites. The open-kitchen atmosphere of the restaurant is clean and modern, with the lounge offering a comfortable eating area where you can order sandwiches and more casual dishes.

24 Hours in Dublin with Kids

With only one full day to explore the city, we had to be selective on what we chose to do. Riding on one of Dublin’s famous double decker buses is our favorite way to get around! A stop at St. Steven’s Green is a “must see” on the itinerary of all visitors to Dublin. Children love the playground and running around in the open space.

In the heart of the city, the cobbled stones of Trinity College take you back to the 18th century. Inside is the Book of Kells, a 9th-century gospel manuscript known throughout the world. The library itself  looks like it came straight out of Hogwarts! St. Patrick’s Cathedral is another iconic stop families shouldn’t miss.

At Dublin Castle, the kids enjoyed meandering through the celtic design of the circular Dubh Linn garden. It’s a perfect place to sit and relax while kids run around, particularly on a sunny day.
