I am a trained scientist with a PhD in biochemistry. I worked 10 years as a regional marketing manager responsible for the clinical portfolio of a large biotech company. When you’re very lucky, you can find a perfect match: a job that is your passion, a passion that becomes your job. I can’t remember a time when I didn’t love to travel. While in college, I was fortunate to go on two 5-month trips around the world (one through Asia and Oceania, the other through South America), and I knew then that my journey had just begun. For the first 30 years of my life, I lived in Germany and Switzerland, beautiful countries that were my gateway to exploring Europe and its rich and colorful culture and breathtaking nature. Now I live with my family in San Diego, California, where we enjoy discovering North and Latin America and many other well-known or undiscovered places.
Wildlife observation is definitely at the top of our list of favorite family activities. We really enjoy being active and experiencing nature in all its abundance and grandeur. We went on a hiking trip in the primary forest of Costa Rica once, and by the end of the trip, we were rewarded by finding a sloth sitting in a tree high above us. While we watched, the sloth came down very slowly for a bathroom break, and my child was very proud to see that and protect the sloth during his “vulnerable time.”
I have learned so much about planning and traveling with children, and gained in-depth knowledge of how different the experiences and challenges are depending on kids’ ages. I also listened to many who struggled with the idea of planning a vacation with their children and were too paralyzed to even start thinking about it. Being able to help families make unique memories together, to spend quality time away from daily hassles and work, to manage their most valuable, non-renewable asset — this is exactly what inspired me to become a family travel advisor. It makes me very happy to help families plan an amazing vacation, to help them create unforgettable travel memories and then listen to their delightful stories when they come back.
