La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona for Photo Friday

We finally had the opportunity to get back to Barcelona last weekend after a 10 year hiatus. Our favorite attraction was and is Antoni Gaudi’s distinctive Basilica De La Sagrada Familia. His architecture and design is surreal and breathtaking – literally.

Amazingly, this cathedral is still under construction. It was started in 1882 and is still going today. In fact, we noticed dramatic differences from our last visit 10 years ago. It’s one thing to wonder what it was like to build one of Europe’s massive churches … it’s another to see it in action.

When in Barcelona with kids, visiting La Sagrada Familia is a must. You can order tickets online and skip the ticket purchase line. Recommended during busy tourist periods!

  1. It’s a great place to take the kids! They can probably make the climb up to the top of the cathedral easier than parents, too, and enjoy the fabulous views!

  2. Barcelona is one of my favorite cities around the world. My parents never took us on vacation to Barcelona but I will definitely go with my kids. Actually, I was about to visit Barcelona again, last week but plans have changed and I am continuing enjoying the sunny Toscana (Italy)! Enjoy your stay in Spain.
