Case in Point: Why We Love Traveling in Italy with Children

It’s no secret that we are huge fans of traveling to Italy with children at Ciao Bambino. One of the big reasons for this is that Italians truly adore kids and over the past 10 years I’ve done this … there have been countless stories from our clients about Italians who go out of their way to make families feel welcome and comfortable.

Case in point: A single mom approached us a few months ago and said she wanted to travel to Italy with her baby. Friends told her she was crazy … I told her that she was absolutely sane and that the secret is accommodations with the right setup. CB! Vacation Consulting, our in-house family-focused travel agency, booked a room for them at Hotel Belvedere, one of our longtime go-to kid-friendly hotels on Lake Como.

It turns out, this was a very good choice. Here is the email I received from this mom this week:

Making Happy Memories in Italy with Kids

With one more day to go in paradise I wanted to thank you and let you know how truly wonderful this hotel and ALL of the staff have been.

They have treated Sawyer like royalty from the second we arrived; he has a constant audience of staff (and guests) saying hello and entertaining him (especially during meals). Everyone knows his name and is focused on making sure he is happy.

The manager, Laura, has looked out for us throughout, and the deputy manager, Salvatore, has even taken Sawyer for 5-10 minutes (to “work” on the computer) at the end of meals so I could actually eat a few bites.

The rooms are spotless and simple (as you indicated) but have everything we need. They moved me to a room with a balcony (facing the street) so I can sit outside when Sawyer naps. The crib is very sturdy and up to date and they have the new-ish Stokke step high chairs (which I actually like better than the Stokke trip-trapp chair I have at home).

The pool and grounds, as you know, are sublime — and the “pool boys” (Oscar and Andrea) very attentive to Sawyer.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this hotel. In fact I love it so much I am planning on returning next summer (but I will upgrade to a room with a view).

A million thanks for all of your help!!!

Receiving notes like this from our clients makes my day. This is why we do what we do! Travel takes effort, but we’ve never had a client come back and tell us that any pain was not worth the pleasure of spending time in Italy with kids.
