Check back soon, we are constantly adding new discoveries to Ciao Bambino. One of the best summer activities in Switzerland is hiking through the Alps. You see people of all ages and abilities enjoying the endless jaw-dropping mountain scenery on foot.
It’s easy to set off with babies and toddlers in carriers or backpacks — more challenging is motivating school-age kids to go for any consequential distance. Fortunately, our Swiss friends have thought through this …
My kids love to travel. As a result, we’ve been able to take some amazing family trips. China was the biggest challenge so far. Taking the family to Europe is one thing, but taking the leap to China … it’s just different.
The 2008 Olympics in Beijing opened up the idea of travel to China for many Americans. And families are no exception. Traveling through China with my kids was an amazing experience. But I recommend …
Earlier this summer my family took a week-long Alaska cruise vacation with Un-Cruise Adventures, an upscale small ship cruise line, throughout the Inside Passage of Southeast Alaska. We kayaked, hiked, paddle boarded and took small boat excursions to view wildlife, glaciers and waterfalls. While the level of difficulty varies for each excursion there is one activity that many…
I’m a big fan of integrating a few very special local activities into international travel with kids. A kids’ cooking class, walking tour, whatever — these engaging cultural encounters often end up being the most memorable events of a trip.
During our recent family trip in Scotland with Adventures by Disney, the itinerary was packed with unique activities that helped every age stay present …
Devon, our 10-year-old, participated in his first media trip without mom to give Woodward Tahoe, an action-packed summer camp program for ages 7 and 20, a test drive. I can only comment on the boy factor as that is all I heard about, but there is no question this camp is sports nirvana where kids refine skills around snowboarding, skiing, skateboarding, BMX bikes, as well as cheerleading and tumbling.
Camp equipment includes trampolines, skateboarding ramps …
Seeing is believing and after visiting Universal Orlando Resort I officially ‘get’ the magic of being immersed in story. We had an after-hours tour of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at the TMS Family Travel Conference in Orlando a few weeks ago and I couldn’t get over the level of detail put into this theme park. It’s absolutely a story come to life, and for Harry Potter fans, a visit is a dream come true.
Late April and May is Narcissus season around Lake Geneva (Lac Leman) in Switzerland. The Paper White varietal cover the fields in the mountains above the lake — they smell and look amazing. The best way to view these flowers is to go on a hike so you can get into the thick of them. I have a few favorites kid-friendly hikes around Lake Geneva that provide wonderful views of Narcissus blooms.
We’re in Costa Rica this week with the award-winning tour operator Kensington Tours. Extraordinary family travel moments are the norm here — I can’t wait to share all the details of our experience.
In the meantime, here’s a peek at a highlight from our family trip in Costa Rica. We saw not just one, but three different Quetzal birds in Monteverde.
I am a huge Disney fan. The Disney brand consistently delivers high quality entertainment whether it’s a Disneyland vacation with kids or a Disney Cruise with grandparents. I have yet to meet a Disney experience that I don’t like – except Space Mountain which I ride only to be brave in front of my kids.
I was speechless however when I was shown to my “room” at the Disneyland Hotel a few weeks ago. When the Disneyland Hotel …
After experiencing the tulip fest in Amsterdam at Keukenhof Gardens in the spring, the month of April will forever remind me of these sensational flowers.
Who knew one flower could come in so many colors?
