Check back soon, we are constantly adding new discoveries to Ciao Bambino. In the old days, “travel clothes” meant safari outfits and trekking wear. Think back to the original Banana Republic … Thankfully, Banana Republic has moved on and innovative brands have emerged to fill the gap. Women on the go now have stylish and functional options that work for a variety of situations and destinations. Anatomie…
Poggio Al Casone is visually amazing. The setting is exactly how I think of Tuscany with rolling hills of grapes. It’s beautiful and completely gated, so it feels really safe for kids to run around and play outside.
The guest experience is very relaxing. We stayed 10 days and our apartment (La Torre) was very large, comfortable and deluxe! The apartments have views of the hills and the rooms are furnished with fantastic Italian furniture and amazing linens. Our apartment had a full kitchen so we could go grocery shopping …
There are two elephants in the room right now in the cruise industry; the sinking of the Costa Concordia and the reoccurring Norwalk virus or Norovirus breakouts. As I watched the news unfold about the Costa Concordia, it occurred to me that I had never given much thought to my family’s safety or health while onboard the Disney Fantasy cruise this week.
I interviewed Rebecca Peddie, a Public Affairs Manager with Disney Cruise Line, to better understand Disney’s safety protocols and procedures for families.
If you want your kids to learn to ski, you can teach them yourself (good luck with that!) or send them to ski school. A comprehensive program run by a thoughtful expert makes all the difference in the world.
A model for this is Mammoth Mountain Ski Area’s Ski & Snowboard School in Califorinia. Craig Albright is the Managing Director of their program. I recently e-interviewed him for his insight on kids’ ski school best practices.
Rick Seaney is the CEO of the airfare news, research, and tracking resource FareCompare. This website is always my first stop before booking tickets as it provides instant price and route information through multiple channels at once to easily compare and contrast options.
Rick is an incredible source of industry information and insight. I interviewed him earlier this week for his take on the important airline industry happenings that will impact family travel in 2012.
Michelle Duffy is Wandermom, the co-author of the how-to family travel book Traveling with Kids, and a co-founder of the incredible travel blogger fundraiser (going on right now!) Passports with Purpose. She just returned from an insane world tour with her 12 and 14-year-old boys in tow where they visited 26 countries in 365 days.
The logistics involved in a trip like this are massive. Of course, it was worth every minute of work in the end. Michelle’s stories are nothing short of astounding.
Travel writer Pauline Frommer is a nationally syndicated radio talk show host on WOR NewsTalk Radio 710 and publishes a series of award-winning worldwide travel guides. Pauline has been traveling since she was a child and now shares her passion for exploring the world with her daughters, ages 8 and 12.
I was fortunate enough to take her guidebook seminar at the annual Travel Writers and Photographers Conference in Corte Madera, California and witnessed first-hand how Pauline evaluates and describes experiences. Her remarkable insight …
What are destination clubs? I didn’t know much about this segment of the travel industry until I interviewed Jeff Hartman, the Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications for Exclusive Resorts, a few weeks ago.
Unfortunately, much of the news about destination clubs has been negative in the recent past when a string of these clubs filed for bankruptcy protection. Exclusive Resorts, however, was not one of them. In fact, the company just reported an increase in sales for 2010.
This is an interview with Nicolas de Rochambeau, the founder of Switzermatt, a company offering travel services in Zermatt including accommodation booking, ski instruction, shopping, and babysitting. Nicolas is that resource we wish we had in every destination—an insider with impeccable tips and advice.
We found him during an emergency calling frenzy a few weeks ago when we realized we had to unexpectedly bring our dog skiing with us and needed to find a dog sitter. After about 30 calls …
One of the big reasons we love to travel internationally is the opportunity to experience how people around the world live differently than we do.
Many families don’t have the resources to travel abroad with kids yet still want to expose kids to different people, places, and cultures in an impactful way. Textbooks are a start but multimedia is a far richer way to share information.
